Portraits of heroes

In 2015, I've been contacted by Julia Rogozina who told me about a new WWII museum opening in the Russian town of Pushchino. At first I thought of it as a wonderful chance to be a part of such an honourable thing as preserving history and helping to remember what our ancestors did for the world when they fought and defeated fascism. And then I saw it as an amazing opportunity to draw faces that reflect so much heroism within wrinkles and facial expressions. All we had were small resolution photographs of heroes. The idea of the project was to create better quality portraits for the showcase of the new WWII history museum in the Tula region of Russia.
