Typeface Sales Poster

Photoshop mock-up of poster project.
(Mockup was free, courtesy of pstutorialsws, found at pstutorialsws.deviantart.com/art/Clean-and-Contemporary-Paper-Mockups-427694652).
This poster was a project for my ART 230 typography class. The project was to create a poster advertising a typeface from Fonts.com (note that I have no actual affiliation with Fonts.com). This poster would hypothetically be sent to professional designers to influence them to purchase the typeface. It was to demonstrate the possibilities of the typeface and provide enough information to make a purchase. It was also an exercise in organizing large quantities of text. No images, icons, or illustrations were permitted. The specific typeface I was assigned was Neue Haas Grotesk Display.

After numerous hand sketches in the ideation phase, I pursued and refined my best directions in the form of digital sketches, concluding with a final round of sketches for color experimentation. I drew inspiration from existing font posters on the internet. The final product is shown below.
Final poster.
I experimented with different colors for the different text blocks. For instance, I tried putting the historical background and the font designers in color. However, these seemed distracting and I reverted to white for them. The two items of text that retained color were "display", which has the effect of transitioning into the style samples, and the website, which I wanted to highlight because it was my key piece of information to convert interest into sales.

The poster title possibly does the best job of demonstrating the versatility and possibility of the font. The three lines almost look like entirely different, complimentary typefaces when they are, in fact, different styles of the same one.
