Redesign Project (2016)

Project Description

PublishDrive is an ebook publishing platform that enables publishers and authors to upload their ebooks and publish them in multiple stores. The primary goal of the redesign was not only to provide a more easy-to-use workflow but also to eliminate the bottle necks in the conversion funnel: incomplete book uploading, users couldn’t finalize publishing.

I was lucky to collaborate directly with the co-founders of the company. It's a special memory and experience because after my start-up life ended, this was my 1st project in which I was a dedicated UX professional. Since then a lot has happened to the company and the product as well, PublishDrive has thrived and became a Google investment through its Launchpad Accelerator Program. I hope I could contribute to this success a little :)

The Navigation wasn't self-explanatory.
The Newsfeed and Statistics are features that authors and publishers should check almost as often as their Facebook newsfeed. However, these options were in the lower section of the starter page increasing the chances of important system messages left unnoticed.
The 'Books' page is the touchpoint where authors & publishers get instant feedback about the status of their publications. Creating lists that are easy to scan despite the requirement of displaying plenty of information at a time was a challenge all across the platform.

At the time, I did not know much about the necessity of usability tests and proper UX Research. The static Invision prototype was still very useful though to test the logic of the flow and also to present ideas in a more tangible way.
