Halcyon is a short animation I made in my second year at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
Halcyon is a period of time that is idyllically peaceful and happy.
The music piece that I chose to animate, “Such Great Heights” by Iron and wine, gave me a very strong sense of peace and togetherness; and I have tried to show the happiness and peace one gets by simply spending time with someone you love.
All forms of love are sacred. I have tried to show that here. Be it love in friendship, love for your family, love for a significant other; irrespective of gender or race or age. All love is natural, and the shower of stars is my way of saying that all your feelings are natural, and nature accepts you and your love for what it is.
This film was made as a way to remind myself that my own feelings were natural and should not be accompanied with a sense of guilt, because what I feel is because I am human, so how can any form of love be wrong. I hope the message gets across, and anyone who still has a sense of guilt for their feelings can get rid of it.
The music used here is for non commercial purposes.

The film was animated by hand on paper, and then colored digitally using TV Paint. The background for the girls sequence is hand painted using acrylic paints. The girls were painted using Photoshop.
