Robert Massin Magazine

Robert Massin Magazine
An Editorial project at University
The brief for this project was to design a magazine front cover, contents page and 2 double page spreads for a given typographer or designer. I was given Robert Massin and so I bought a book about his work and did some research into him as a designer. He was a French typographer who started out in book clubs and went on to do some innovative book designs.

I started my design process by drawing out a 6 column grid so I could lay out my design and pay attention to detail. I then ran out some images I might use on mood boards and used tracing paper, a pencil, a fine liner, a ruler and my grid to draw out many variations of how I could lay out my pages. When I was happy with my layout I scanned my images and went into InDesign to layout my magazine on the Mac.

After running out my magazine a few times to check my images, font size, paragraphs, captions and to check there where no widows I printed my final design and mocked it up to look like a magazine. Have a look at my photographs of this below.
