BRAND POSTERS

The brand was driven by the duality of historical accounts: the hidden and the propagated. The use of the "#" symbol marks the integration of the current culture and the historical significance of the event/person discussed. For the purpose of the posters, I picked historically famous figures (keeping in mind that this can become a mega series) like M. K. Gandhi, Johannes Gutenberg & Al-Khwarizmi, each known across history in both positive and negative connotations.
THE HISTORY WING

The quest to redefine history will not be complete without schools realizing it. The following are mock-ups inspired by the idea of a history wing with interactive maps and elements instead of textbooks. The visualization of events with a global perpective encourages easier interpretation of world history than textbooks.
THE CHAPTER GAME

Sure, there were now classes in an interactive classroom, but what about homework? How can a teacher know if the child understood what was happening? How can a child learn something without getting bored of it easily? A tablet-based application: accessible, fun and educative, can substitute all that boring history homework with easy interfaces for teachers and students.
As a student who has access to this iPad application, every lesson happens as a game. The main interface, the world map, shows the student/viewer an option to choose from all world events that happened simultaneously in a decade, era or epoch, providing the idea of parallel historical influences that led to the world that is around today.
The assignment/lesson/game level of the week will be assigned by the teacher, who has a separate login and works on delegating specific chapters/historical epochs/decades. Through this login, the teacher can also evaluate the progress of each student in that level and the chapters/rounds they have played in a mapped historical event.
THE REDISCOVERY FAIR

An exhibition created by the brand "Clio", in collaboration with Exploratorium and other sponsors, to bring awareness and education to middle school students. Includes an ID, a maze walkway, a journal and badges in a take-away bag.
The purpose of this project is to encourage and motivate preteen and early teenage students towards developing a healthy and well-rounded perspective towards world history and the personal lessons that can be learnt by an interactive approach, keeping up with the times and the technological facilities we have to address issues like this.

This project is the creative and intellectual property of Harini Venkataraman, created as part of the class GR 620: Visual Thinking at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco.
