Haut Beau - Handwoven Rugs

Haut Beau is a line of flatwoven weft-face rugs designed and hand-loomed in Montréal, Canada. Attention to detail in the design and manufacture coupled with ongoing research in weave structure and history inform their products.
Alexander Sutherland, the designer behind Heaut Beau handwoven rugs, was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Alec has been doing textile things for a long time now but after studying textiles at Concordia University in Montreal, and at the Centre des Textiles Contemporains de Montréal, he has finally fallen in love with the rug.

Belgian tow linen is used for the warp and New Zealand wool is used for the weft. Both are natural materials which have immeasurable advantages over synthetic alternatives and which have been in continual use as textile materials for thousands of years.
