BIRCH TREE are trays made from man-made material that simulates nature.
The trays are made from plywood and by adding wood grains it gives the material more authentic feeling and brings it to life. By simulating nature it brings more value to the product, but most people believe that man-made material like plywood and plastic are less valueable than hardwood and leather.
The most common tree in Iceland is the Birch tree, and by adding the name to the tray it informs the user which tree is in his product, but also raises questions about how most people do not know the difference between the man-made and real.
The trays are not only meant to be used for serving, but while not being in use it is a piece of object that does not belong hidden in a drawer.
