    Design Poetics was a temporary space created in collaboration with furniture designer Chenxi Huang. The space was composed by Chenxi Huang's wood pieces of furniture and wood tiles created to complement her work. We were interested in exploring our identities as non-Americans (or officially nonresident aliens). Although we came from very different backgrounds, we always found ourselves inspired by the same artists and historic styles, which often challenged the cliches and misconceptions around what it means to be Brazilian or Chinese. We were also inspired by Bachelard's ideas of space as a nest for imagination and the poetics that design gains through other people's experiences and individualities. The result was our own take on international design and poetic space. Design Poetics was in exhibition at the Sullivan Galleries in Chicago-IL as part of the 2016 Undergraduate Exhibition of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Read Less
