This project involved me taking a speech close to my heart and using word and image appropriately in order to represent certain themes an meanings presented within the given speech. Ellen Page gave a breathtaking speech on sexuality, her own sexuality and how she overcame the shame of being gay in our current society. She spoke about shame and societies expectations of LGBT couples versus heterosexual couples. This inspired me to create this booklet in a way that the reader is unable to tell whether the couple in a given image is two men, two women or a man and a woman. this project works with the viewers assumptions that these couples in the images are likely to be "societies norm" however as the reader continues, it becomes apparent what the speech is about and that these couples in fact represent a different part of society that we ought to recognise more willingly.
