VILLA SAN ANTONIO

An urban villa, in the heart of the tropical city of Cali, Colombia
Stretching along a narrow and very long plot in the middle of the city's old colonial neighborhood, the proposed design is conceived by combining elements and principles of vernacular local architecture within a sober, minimal and elegant palette, resulting in a house of terracotta and white, without leaving room for its occupants to self-express. The water is another powerful design element, which circulates all along the house, through a cycle of passive purification, beginning in a ‘water wall’ where it falls to oxygenate, followed by a pond where fauna and fish naturally eliminate impurities, and finishing within a pool to help refresh during the year-long summers of the area.
