This was the introductory to my research on Evil in the ordinary man. It centres on Immanuel Kant's secular theory of radical evil. Kant believed that all man are capable of evil when they subject moral laws to self interests.

Based on the two quotes below, I recreate evil faces by digitally manipulating ordinary portraits. This was done in relation to Kant's 'Radical Evil', that evil is innate, thus these evil portraits were done by overlaying the similar faces or by duplicating their facial features.
“The painter can accomplish an infinity of things which speech will not be able to name for want of the appropriate terms. And seest thou not that if the painter wishes to depict animals and devils in Hell with what richness of invention he proceeds?”

– Leonardo da Vinci
“Man becomes radically evil when he subjects moral law to self interests.”

– Immanuel Kant
