The inspiration for the cups comes from the relationship of women who lived close to each other in the 1900s. At the time, women usually worked at home, taking care of the house and children, so when they had a freetime they popped out to each other and had a cup of coffee together. Over that coffee they shared their hopes and dreams and developed a great trust and a strong relationship.

Nánd encourages intimacy between the individuals that drink from the cups. Each cup is a half a circle and can stand alone, but when the cups come together they unite and become whole, just like the friendship between these women. On the flat surface between them you can imagine something that only remains between the two coffee drinkers.

The handles on the cups come from a cup that newlyweds used to drink from in their wedding in a way to confirm their union.
