Penn Institute for Urban Research 2015 Annual Report

For their 2014–2015 Annual Report, Building on a Decade of Growth, we wanted to visually convey the idea of Penn IUR’s focus on building and improving over the time span of the last decade. Specifically, we wanted to try to show the flipping over of the decade, similar to the idea of flipping a calendar page for the flipping numbers on clock. To achieve this, we layered type, photo and design elements on top of one another.

The idea is brought to the interior with the photo showing through the large section numbers and also peeking out from the side of the page. We thought of this section spreads as slides in a slideshow, which aligned closely with the concept.
