Jasper Johns Artist "Box"

Jasper Johns Artist "Box"
The new kind of gallery gift shop item
I was assigned to deign an artist book by my instructor Sally Hill in Print Media Production. My desire in the creation process was to revere the artist while creating a truly one of a kind takeaway object. Therefore I designed what I call the Jasper Johns Artist Box. The theory behind this work sorrounds the attraction of the point of sale. This product would be available for sale in the gift shop of an art museum such as the Metropolitain in New York City. Having been to the “Met” several times I’ve noticed what visitors seek to purchase posters, and books when they are there. I combined these items in this project. The collector’s box is designed to open as a clamshell. Within the box, the person will find that pages are two sided, and function as a poster, too. One side of the page has text describing the work and explaining the inspiration behind it. The other side features a poster of the artwork itself.
