Everyone knows about Tide however many shoppers forgo the more expensive name brand of Tide for the less expensive counterparts. In order to make Tide more appealing to a younger clientele, an interactive component
was necessary. Due to the season the ad was to run, the suggestion of being out in the sun was a natural choice. The decision to use light sensitive paper was made because it reflected the theme of “fun in the sun” while becoming an amusing gimmick for the audience to interact with in order to reveal the message. The aspect of rinsing the paper with water after exposing it to the sun directly correlates to the aspect of washing clothes.
A type only solution was deemed to be a simple contrast to the complexity of the light sensitive paper.
