Design History Poster "Plakatstil"
The objective of this assignment was to create a poster true to the style of a randomly assigned design history movement, mine was the Plakatstil movement. The poster was to include the name of the movement and the time in history when it took place.
The Plakastil movement refers to a popular style of commercial art that was prominent
in Germany in the early 1900s. Plakastil translates to “poster style” in German. The Plakatstil
movement turned away from the complexity of Art Nouveau movement, which was dominated poster art in
the late 19th century. Plakatstil was considered to be an early modern launch-pad for a revolution
in commercial art at the start of World War II.
