Artist Statement

As an artist who switches between traditional drawing and digital drawing or photo manipulation, I like to express myself to the fullest by allowing myself to not limit to one medium or style. Creating concepts are always part of my process in making creative projects now ever since I have taken Youth Art Exchange’s Architecture class. Without having concepts and exploring in different mediums, my art will cease to exist.

Being able to use Photoshop truly enabled my potential as a young artist. In my piece Fantasia, I wanted to evoke a sense of wonder in my piece by capturing my inner essence of my personality. Within Fantasia, I conveyed that being yourself is an important part of your identity; don’t let your peers influence or define who you are. I believe the youth should be able to create art because through visuals, the youth “speak” the truth which empowers them as young adults.
