The Task
Design a mechanical kitchen timer around an existing mechanism. The design can either be smart and sophisticated or fun and quirky. The product must be fully engineered and engineering drawings then passed on to first year students who will prototype the product.

The Outcome
The Nosey Piggy is a post-modern design inspired by the likes of Alessi and Philippe Starck. The design is not only cute and quirky, it is also well engineered. Screw bosses run through the eyes and tail of the pig therefore not detracting from the visual form. The angled nose is anthropometrically designed for easy twisting, the compact design is well balanced and uses little material because of its size.
