West Midlands Area Metro

The concept behind this visual design system came from the lack of underground metro and pride from my hometown of Birmingham in England. My hometown has a negative association of being dirty, ugly and unprogressive and now the city is changing its image to be a modern and diverse city - old brutalist architecture is being replaced by dynamically designed buildings.

As Birmingham is the second largest city in England, there’s thousands of commuters that have to come in and out of the city everyday. Currently without a fast metro service, Birmingham relies on buses and a very limited tram line. With the establishment of the metro, traffic can be cut down in the city centre and allow for Birmingham to establish its overall image as a progressive and modern city.
This is the home page which acts as a loading page on the app

This screen is an easily accessible and easy to understand screen in which the user can view: Maps, Service Alerts, Plan a trip and timetables.
An overview of the interfaces in the app in a perspective layout.
This is the 'timetable' and 'trip planner' screen. A real time and location are given to the user and instead of scrolling through many stations, the user is given a quick and easy list sorted by train line, to find their station. The timetables are clear and easy to read with 'Northbound' and 'Southbound' trains and their line, in their highlighted colours. All pages have a clean design and navigation bar to help the experience a positive one.
The map section allows the user to zoom in, see where they are, and select a specified route rather than seeing all the lines at once.
The 'trip planner' is an easy to use interface and follows the same template of finding yourself in real time.
