Samaklaban is a project by Ahmad Hammoud where he asked different designers to contribute by designing a logo that conveys Cairo's visual identity. Here's my contribution.

سمكلبن هو منصة لتوثيق ودراسة وإحياء حوار حول الثقافة البصرية لمدينة القاهرة، خصوصاً ثقافة التصميم الشعبي. في محاولة لإستيعاب اشهر اللغات البصرية إنتشاراً في شوارع القاهرة، كخطوة تجاه فهم المزيد عن ثقافتنا، من كنا، من نحن، ومن سنكون

 

Samaklaban is a platform to document, study and revive the conversation about Cairo's visual culture. Especially vernacular and popular design. In an attempt to understand Cairo's most popular visual language, as a step towards understanding more about our culture, who we were, who we are and who we will be.
