Unique algorithmic creatures

Unique creatures reflecting your social personality
Davatars allows anyone with a Facebook or Twitter account to create a “living" representation of their behaviour patterns across each social network. Each person’s unique use of the platforms will serve to generate billions of creatures. The cumulation of all the davatars created will generate ERDF's - France's major electricity operator - new visual identity the day of it’s unveiling.
Client: ENEDIS, France's major electricity operator
Production: Bright
In collaboration with the interactive designer Romain Cazier
Algorithmic creatures

The Davatars are generated by an algorithm that translates your social behavior (activity patterns, community engagement, degree of influence...) into a graphic, interactive representation. Each creature is unique, and unlike any other.

Shape
The base look and color of your davatar is first dependant on which social platform you connect with. Next comes the shape, which is defined by your visibility on the platform, like how many followers or friends you have for example.

Antennae
The size of your antennae represent how dynamic you are within your community, and the degree to which you participate. The more social you are, the more outwardly they’ll face!

Social Aura
The little particles floating around your davatar represent the level of activity you have on the platform. Are you quiet or more of a chatterbox?

Temperament
Are you curious? Or shy? Your davatar’s facial expression is dependant on all the criteria mentioned above, while its eyes contain a randomized value that reinforce the true uniqueness of each creature generated.
The backstory: ERDF commissioned Bright to for the unveiling of its new visual identity.

For the occasion, the studio division of Bright has created “Davatars”, an original and collaborative experience.

From May 27th to 31st 2016, the public was invited to discover a unique portrait of their social presence in the form of a personalized avatar, or Davatar. The creatures will be generated from a selection of targeted data produced by each participant's unique social media presence.

Leading up to the logo unveiling, all the avatars created will gradually accumulate on davatars.fr, culminating in the final reveal on May 31st. Each participant’s online persona will have contributed to the new logo.

The experience has been designed and developed in collaboration with Romain Cazier, an interactive designer and graduate from the prestigious ECAL design school.
