Preparation prevents poor performance and that was certainly the case for this elegant one-shot spot for director Alex Smith. Extensive previs, meticulous diagrams and plenty of camera rehearsals ensured that when the sunset reached its critical peak, the crew was ready to pull-off the perfect 30 second take.

The hovering seats were all done in CG because apparently Virgin likes to keep all its seats in aircraft ready for passengers to sit on, not in warehouses ready for TV crews to film – who knew?

When the real airport location came up looking a little…rural, Fin’s VFX crew also lent a hand to enhance and extend the tarmac to give it the markings and infrastructure of an international runway.

The result is an almost meditative execution of a wonderfully strong and simple idea.
