Until 2012 the city didn’t have a policy of waste management and University of Brasília was the first to look after it. Even though the university did some efforts to improve the system, it wasn’t adapted to the community responsible for sorting the waste. This service design project had the intention to integrate all the isolated efforts in different areas of the University and suggest a new integrated system. The project was separated into three big groups: collect, disposal and sorting in order to make a complete overview of the situation, to search existing projects related at University and suggest possibilities of improvements. It had also as a bigger purpose to understand how the waste politics should work in a holistic system integrating all the areas involved.
