Betty Brinn Children's Museum Rebrand & Brand Guide

This project is a redesign of the Milwaukee, WI favorite, the Betty Brinn Children's Museum. The existing brand is a bit tired, I wanted to perk it up a bit and make it something reflective of the fun and exploration that it fosters. Using a bright color palate, playful typography, and some goofy characters I was able to create a fun and flexible brand that will bring new life to this museum.
This is an example of how these characters can interact with the logotype.
The idea behind this rebrand was that kids should be able to be kids in this museum. Run around, touch everything, make noise, so the concept became kids are little monsters, in the best possible sense. So I illustrated these little monsters to incorporate into the brand and add to its flexibility.
Logo variations possible under this flexible branding system
I designed the monsters so that they could be broken down into interchangeable parts, not only does this make them more flexible and diverse, but it creates an opportunity for a really interactive design in which kids could participate and create their very own monsters. Here is a concept for a mobile app using these monsters.
Design for wristbands kids would recieve upon entering the museum.

Design for museum gift shop shopping bags.
