Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Countdown Clock

Industrial Design

The Countdown Clock is an interactive public installation, designed to communicate the countdown, create awareness and promote the upcoming Pan Am and Parapan Am Games. The structure, decorated in the brand’s core graphic of sport pictograms, features traditional countdown clock screens for both Pan and Parapan Am games, as well as an interactive touch-screen kiosk that provides visitors with comprehensive Games information at their fingertips. The kiosk also features a photo app, allowing visitors to take a shot of themselves in Nathan Phillips Square, download the photo with their smartphone, and email it or share it via social media. As the lead designer on this project, I worked with the internal creative team at TORONTO 2015, in collaboration with Cisco Systems and its partners, on the strategy, concept development and design of the structure, facade graphics, and interactive elements. The clock was unveiled at the one-year countdown festivities hosted by the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee, held at Nathan Phillips Square.
