G. F Smith
Brief
This project explores traditional print processes, in this case, screen-printing, and was featured within the G. F Smith Colour Plan Archive, Leeds Print Festival Exhibition 2016.
We were assigned a specific stock colour, in this case, I had Racing Green. Inspired by the name of the stock and also my knowledge of cars and racing history - via my Father, I decided to use a series of famous photographs from the first Monaco Grand Prix, 1929. Here, the British driver William Grover-Williams won gold in the 'Bugatti of Briton'.
Grover-Williams' win, I chose to gold foil key areas. influenced by the banners and decorations used around the track back in Grover-Williams are highlighted in gold. This signifies the importance of his win, his name and his car.
Colour Variations & Experiments
I took it upon myself to take the project a step further and experimented with other stocks, consisting of various weight, texture, colours and material blends.
I simply curious to see how the print would have look on other stock colours.
