corrective cloning

the goal:
I selected four different articles from sources regarding human genome altercations, cloning, and the recent UK baby born from components of three adults and designed a book that would reflect the content of these articles.
research:
I gathered four articles, totaling roughly 3,000 words, that best represented all sides of the issue (pro, con, scientific vs strictly religious). Each article also played upon the curiosity of the reader, enticing them to wonder about the scientifically colder, easily clone-able future.

cover:
My thematic idea was to have the 'clone-able' dots growing on each page, starting from the cover. I played with this idea in several drafts before deciding upon a black cover with  transparent dots.
book layout:
The 'clinical and sterilized future' atmosphere was utilized in my book with its spacious, stark and sleek black and white pages, clean layout, and repetitive dots. I first made 9 combinations of 2 typefaces and 3 different layouts; choosing the best one. I then created my pagination, laying out the cover, table of contents, chapters, and contents. I then thought about the book proportions. The book should appear to be easily mass reproducible, accounting for its standard size. Generous space was given between all of the text and chapters, creating a leisurely reading experience with a sterile ambiance.
page layout + font pairing:
To activate the page, I set a strict hierarchical structure within several templates. I chose two fonts that would compliment each other, National and Helvetica. I ensured that my book was easily legible and the type was set thoughtfully. These elements allow the text, and therefore the entire book, to feel and appear cohesive.
