BFA Senior Studio with Perry Stuart
I was able to do what ever work I wanted, I just had to make it the very best work I have ever done. When I started my senior project I knew I had to stick with a process and a method of producing work in order to have a consistency among my pieces and to produce enough pieces as i need.
This first set of images are the works i did for my shaman piece. There are some sketches as well as the images i found on the web that i used as reference to create the illustration.
This fire tiger and ice dragon project was a lot of fun. After discussing my comp drawings with Perry, I decided that I needed to sculpt the dragon rather that work from imagination. It really helped. Here are some photos of my clay dragons sulpture as well as sketches and reference images, and the final finished piece.
This next set of images are of my idea of a nice getaway home in the middle of the ocean on top of a 200 foot tower. Since I have been having so much fun with my clay I thought I would sculpt my tower house as well. Here are some photos of that sculpture along with the original sketch when the idea was first put on paper.
When i photographed my scupture i cut out the back and pocked a hole through the fire place then put a small flashlight inside to get my primary light source. I also set up a background seen in photoshop of a crude ocean horizon and sky and displayed it on my monitor behind the clay sculpture as i took the pictures.
This is just the beginning of the project which will include at least 12 finished pieces. I hope to be done by the end of this year. I will have show and a undisclosed location. All of my images will follow the story of a Shaman traveling in between dimentions learning about the ways of the universe. I will spend some time writing after all the visual works is done and publish the thing my self if I have too. And other big secret ideas for marketing and selling my images as well.
