Brief
The Department of Motion Design at Ringling College of Art & Design seeks media to
excite and explain what the major entails to be showcased to prospective students along
with their families. Create an explainer video utilizing the opening and closing text lock-ups
along with the provided answer for the opening question "What is Motion Design?"
Key Insight
This video and many others would be streaming simultaneously in a hallway line with multiple television screens—everyone is fighting for attention.
Concept Breakdown
Given the scenario the project would be streamed, I focused on creating a narrative with the type being integrated as the visuals. This format would require attention and focus from the audience to be able to digest the entire message.
Also the provided prompt still left a gap in defining Motion Design. Therefore a visual metaphor incorporating a common everyday object helped bridge this gap. Enabling viewers to relate to something they were already familiar with.
