A look at my community
I don’t need to go far — a ten minutes walk to a nearby corner plaza, to see and feel the blending of cultures and ethnicity of my community. Store signs are good indicator of such mix — here we see signs in Chinese characters, South Asian characters or perhaps a few others that I couldn’t even identify and of course English.
In response to a call-for-entries for works that depict My Community, I ventured into this familiar and yet not-so-familiar zone, trying to see it through my camera. What I have captured were glimpses of a multi-layer collage of cultures in forms and textures, interweaving with many untold human stories.
