HAND LETTERING IS FOR EVERYONE 

 

In a world dominated by technology, where letters could be created by coding or just by simple pulling of anchor points. Can these beautiful letters made by hand still have their place in this century? This project aims to reveal insights to designers and how hand lettering could help shape a better learner, thinker and a designer. 

 

It’s interesting because in the recent years more and more people are taking time off to participate in hand lettering and brush lettering workshops. Especially working adults, those who faced computer on a daily basis. Some would say like doing lettering a like a therapy, it helps to de-stress ,unwind and have fun.  

 

She did a workshop which covers the basics of lettering, the do’s and how’s, step by step on how to use shapes, lines, patterns to create a nice composition and also the benefits of doing and learning lettering. She also has insights and their works from the top letterers / designers on what their process are, how do they approach a creative project before executing the design etc. 

 

Do you have problem understanding the project just by reading the project objective or synopsis? How is it effective or ineffective? Are the deliverables or intent obvious? Is it too long/too short? 
Nope, It is quite straight forward and easy to understand. The information she has are essential for people whom are keen on learning lettering or already learning.

Challenging the dichotomy between work and play in today’s increasingly stressful office environments, Blue Slot is a project that hopes to break the monotony of work processes, by celebrating and encouraging fun in the workplace, towards a more enjoyable work experience. 

 

This project proposal is interesting and feasible because it’s stating the fact that most people are nowadays too stress and tired from work as they are always just sitting at their table without any freedom to move around and let their creative juices flow. The restriction set by the company restricted their own workers hence indirectly affecting the company since the workers are working for the company. Often people will say there’s no work-life balance in a person’s life so its the same in the office there’s no balance between working and enjoying/resting. Now more companies are trying to shift to have a balance between work and play for their workers by giving them good welfare, benefits, free meals. A couple of good examples will be Facebook, Google, Yahoo all these tech giants have really good welfare for their workers - ranging from free meals, gym, rest area to power nap, message, showers, food, snacks etc.

 

She did include insights of what people wish their workplace be like and what helped them to cope with stress at work. And also what workers will experience for sitting too long such as the leg shaker, the stiff shoulders, the dry-eyed etc. She also includes the do and doesn't on how can we improve productivity and why having a work and play balance is very important in the modern times. 

 

Nope, I am able to relate to the situation she is addressing, because i might be in the same category of keep working and never had a work-play balance. Which could really decrease the productivity of an individual.
