An online stream of rich media content.
Livewired, was part of a multi-project initiative by Design Director Erik Adigard and Executive Producer Gary Wolf. Other projects included Wired News, HotBot, NewsBot, WiredFeed, the WiredDesktop and Timelocator commissioned by SFMOMA, selected for the re-opening exhibit  Typeface to Interface, Graphic Design from the Collection.
Livewired was conceived as a major web publishing experiment intended as a multimedia expression of Wired magazine visual essays—many of which designed by Erik Adigard and M-A-D. As such, it appeared as web-enabled full screen animated streaming content, including:
• News (world, culture, technology & politics)
• Factoids & Big Data
• Historical Events
• Forecasts
• Faces (thought leaders and influencers)
• Media Innovations
This research led to the creation of a few innovative web channels, it was included in museum exhibits and it led to the SFMOMA commission IconCity conceived with Patricia McShane, M-A-D. One of the main conceptual components of LiveWired, along with our bi-weekly forecasts, was the image-oriented publishing of significant events. The interface allowed to link the main screen animations to full stories and relevant side links.
