Aaron Draplin is one of my favorite designers/humans living today, and I had the great pleasure of joining him for a small workshop with some fellow Indianapolis creatives. The exercise we worked on was to create a brand identity and logo mark for a local city. I chose Gary, IN.
Around the turn of century, Gary was a giant steel production hub in the industrial Midwest. That industry has faded from its former glory, and so too has the "Magic City of Steel." These designs try to evoke that simplistic, industrial nature of the city's history.
