These Landscape Photographs of the beautiful Island La Palma - or as it is called " La Isla Bonita" - where made using a LEE "Big Stopper" Filter and an additional ND 8 Filter to extend the length of exposure to a margin between 30 seconds and 800 seconds to create powerfull effects of colour and movement. I hope you enjoy These Pictures as i do Read Less

La Palma - La Isla Bonita
April 2016

La Palma is the north-westerly Island of the Canary Islands and with an area of 706 km² it is the fifth largest island of the archipelago. Due to the volcanic origin, the Island has a very unique and varied Landscape which is very interessting for Landscape Photographers.

The Cloud Waterfalls at Cumbre Vieja, the just 30 years old Lava fields in the south and of course the caldera de taburiente made me realize how close geolocical processes, time and beauty are connected. The beautiful volcanic ridges nearly visualize the past 2 million years of formin, eruptions and erosion until its recent landscape which reaches a maximum of 2426 metres above sealevel. There you can also find one of the world's premier astronomical observatories, the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, because there is less light polution then in south america or hawaii.

For this Photographs i used the "Big Stopper" by LEE Filters in combination with a ND 8 Filter to extend the lenght of exposure to maximum.
