Bookstore Furniture Design

The purpose of this project is to bring a cohesive image and a powerful identity to a bookstore in the mexican city of Querétaro. This business is located in downtown, an aclaimed touristic area of the city.

This team project had different approaches: business (new BMC, include coffee service), marketing (corporate image), interiors (new pieces of furniture and decoration) and social (cultural events, community involvement)
As part of the team, I was in charge of designing a piece of furniture that would work both as a bookcase and as a table for costumers to enjoy a cup of coffee while reading a book or working on their laptops.

As a result, I combined two materials: Wood and Steel. In this way, the design would look lighter and inviting. The application on the top pf the table surface is a repetitive element throughout the bookstore and it consists of vinyl.
There is a division between the shelves and the users area in order to avoid unwanted contact with the books (kicking). The structure comes with security wheels as a way of giving this piece of furniture more versatility.
Here is a look of the overall design of the bookstore.
