Paparazzi - Fashion Meets Hollywood

Where would fashion be without Hollywood and our favourite film icons, who’ve been setting trends for more than nine decades? Today’s hottest designers are household names, thanks to the red carpet… and the people taking the pictures. Always buzzing behind the scenes, the paparazzi capture moments in time; immortalizing a hemline here, a handbag there — creating dreams of glamour. Filmmaking and fashion share many similarities; from an initial inspiration, to the creative process, to the final cut and edit. When we watch the runway or the silver screen, we’re transported into another world. And lest we forget what that world looks like, the paparazzi snap it up for us to look at later.

This fashion brochure, “Paparazzi”, is a collaborative project between graphic design students and graduating fashion students. The fashion committee developed the concept, “Hollywood Meets Fashion”, and it was up to me as student design lead to develop the visuals that would accompany that statement. The design developed for this project follows that of a tabloid magazine, with bright colours and bold callouts. Textured paper was used to mimic a traditional tabloid magazine. The finished design was then brought to a printer and a couple thousand copies were produced for the Art Institute of Vancouver’s annual fashion show.
