Feed My Wife - Voti Nu Khilana

'Feed my Wife' is a video created for 'Stories We Tell - Aao Sunayein Kahani' in collaboration with the
'Lahore Biennale' by the students of Visual Communication Design, BNU to represent the Marasi Community of Lahore. This series of short videos aim to create a crossover between communities in an effort to revive the art of storytelling.
The video features Zulfiqar from the Mirasi community that was once respected in the royal courts but is now separated by unfortunate societal labels.
Zulfiqar Ali, a 42 year old marasi living a life of poverty, drives a rickshaw to feed his family. We had a series of meetings with him to know about his daily life, how he copes with the problems he face and opinions over general topics which were; Basant, Food, Festivity and Literature.
Upon these findings, we decided to write a song on and for Zulfiqar which he himself would sing
and act for the video.
The purpose of turning this project into a music video was to add the element of wit and give zulfiqar
a chance to express his long lost talent.
The song and the video empowered Zulfiqar the respected marasi and gave him something to be proud of.
The lyrics of the song are as follows;

The project was commended by a number of Art critics including Rashid Rana and the video was played at the much known book store / library of Lahore, The Last Word.
