1) Who is Ken Burns and what is the Ken Burns Effect? Ken Burns is an American Filmaker. The Ken Burns effect is a slow pan/zoom on a still image. 
2) Name 3 projects that might incorporate this effect.

3) What is parallax? The effect where the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions. An object that is closer to us will move by faster than an object that is farther away from in during motion
 
Video Research:
1) What is the Ken Burns effect? When is it used in video projects?  The Ken Burns effect is a type of panning and zooming effect used in video editing. It is used in video projects when wanting to zoom in a certain scene.
2) Name the three main areas in the After Effects workspace. 
-The three main workspaces in After Effects are the control panel, composition, and timeline.
3) What are two ways to import media into a project?
-Double clicking the project panel will open up a folder.
-File -> Import -> File (ctrl + I)
4) Name two ways to create a composition. 
-ctrl + N
-right clicking on project panel and create new composition
5) What is an element?
-An element is a the video/audio/images in the composition
6) What is the difference between dragging an element into the monitor and dragging an element into the timeline?
- The difference between dragging an element into the monitor and dragging an element into the timeline is that when you drag an element into the monitor it allows you to change the position of the element. When dragging an element into the timeline it allows you to have a solo layer.
7) Name four keyboard shortcuts.
- The Q key is for the mask and shapes tool. The C key is for the camera tools/options. The V key is for the selection tool. The H key is for the hand tool.
8) Why would you want to solo an element while working on a composition?
- Using a solo element while working in a composition will allow to make quick edits.
9) What do the time code numbers represent, in order from largest to smallest?
- The time code numbers represents frames, hours, minutes and seconds in order from largest to smallest.
10) What is a keyframe?
- Keyframes are used to change the value of a change or effect in a video
11) What are the "three simple steps" to creating an animation in After Effects?
- The three simple steps to creating an animation in After Effects is to first press the "P" button to find/edit your position, the next step to to select the stopwatch to create a keyframe, and finally the last step is to edit the values in the keyframes.
12) How and why would you reduce the playback resolution in the monitor?
- To reduce the playback resolution in the monitor you will have to use the RAM/Preview. If you do not have a good graphics card or if you're editing a high quality video, you should be using the RAM/Preview to watch the playback; this will result in a smoother playback.
