My work reflects my interest in colour, pattern and balance. I am strongly influenced by patterns of organic objects such as flowers, leaves and in my textile designs. The curly and an organic structure of flowers are exactly my choice of motifs to break the stiffened texture backgrounds of my fabric design. The different looks and shapes of flowers is on the other hand what influences the outcomes of the changing elements in my pattern design and my colour choices.
One of my comforting codes of working is to break away from the principle of balance, primarily a practice that puts me in a pinnacle of unlimited exploration.
I start with an ink sketch with detailing out captivating elements before digitally manipulating with the pc. I digitally apply colour, working out repeats and texturing as my work process. The combination of the ink is as a result of my strong love for illustration and doodling. Doodling floral patterns can be off great fun and besides my greatest antidote for stress relief. I eventually produce a great piece by putting my sketch to use and birthing my preconceived idea and an opportunity to invoke other ideas.
