Pacific Alliance / Milk Estudio
An illustrated series I created for a travel magazine by the Pacific Alliance, which is an initiative of regional integration comprised by Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. This magazine is called 'Four nations, an infinite experience' and is designed by Milk Estudio. My job was to combine the highlights of all countries into one illustration. There is a total of four illustrations, that show the different tourism aspects: ancient, living cultures, nature and contemporary experiences. You can read a little bit more about each experience below each illustration.

Living Cultures
In this image you see a female Mapuche member playing the kultrun, a traditional drum. This Mapuche member is called a 'Machi' and is a traditional healer and religious leader who plays a significant role within the Mapuche culture. The Mapuches are natives of Chile and Argentinia and have been around since 500 BC.
On the right you see a detail of the Uros people that live on their self-fashioned floating islands in Lake Titicaca in Peru. This special community construct their own islands, houses and boats entirely with totora reeds, that grow in the lake.
On the mountains in the background you see the coffee plantation of Colombia, often called 'the Coffee Triangle'. It's the most importation coffee plantation of this country and some say it's the finest coffee in the world.
In the back there's a glimpse of a statue that you can find in the National Museum of Anthropology, which is the largest and most visited museum in Mexico. This statue is a solar disc with a portrait of the God of Death, and it originates from the ancient Mesoamerican city 'Teotihuacan'.
Ancient
On the botton left you see one of the golden artifacts from the Gold Museum in Bogota, Colombia. Behind it you see one of the Coba ruins in Mexico. The city of Coba (400 - 800 AD) was a trading center with a population of over 55.000. In the background you see a glimpse of the famous and enchanting place of Machu Picchu, the 15th century Peruvian Inca City (left), and of the impressive Easter Island statues (Chile), that were created by the early Rapa Nui people during the period of 1100 - 1680 (top right).

Nature
In this image you see a cruise ship sailing on the beautiful river bends of the Amazon River (Peru). On the right you see the luxurious Ecohabs of Tayrona National Park with a view of the sea. This National Park is one of the most beautiful places in Colombia, and it feels like paradise. On the hill you see Chapultepec Castle (Mexico City). This place used to be a sacred place for Aztecs, but now it's the National Museum of History. Behind this castle we see a glimpse of the mountain tops of Torres del Paine, the magnificent National Park of Chile.
Contemporary
In this image you see all contemporary activities that the four countries have to offer. For instance 'glamping' in the Atacama desert (Chile) or shopping and food-related goodness in Cancun (Mexico). Both the old and modern city centres are beautiful places to visit, such as the Costa Verde with the beautiful skyline of Lima (Peru) and the old city centre of Cartagena (Colombia).
