Transport for London – 100 years of Johnston typeface

Edward Johnston designed a typeface in 1916 which is still used across the Transport for London network today.
 
To celebrate this, we’ve been commisioned as one of 11 agencies by TfL to produce a poster. We designed ‘Century’ which is inspired by Man Ray’s ‘Keeps London Going’ artwork created in 1938. We have translated the Johnston typeface to create a design that reflects movement, shape and energy of the underground.
