Praising the Red Queen

I am a big fan of Lewis Carroll’s story, telling how Alice lost herself in Wonderland. However, I always thought that there is so much more than just one pretty girl in that book.
So I redisigned its cover with my favourite, the Red Queen.

The main idea is to twist the usual imagery of this well-known story. Instead of focusing on the main character Alice, the Red Queen gets all the attention. Usually illustrations about this book are full of decoration with a lot going on, but in this case the main concept is based on the depiction of playing cards. The Red Queen’s famous ’Off with their heads.’ quote gave the base of the implementation. The book itself is placed into a holder which is cut in half diagonally. For further decoration red parts are not only embossed but foil stamped as well.
