Why do art and design never stop evolving? Why do people still visit galleries and buy new shiny things? We all tend to habituate and everyone sometimes wants to get rid of his old stuff and get something new. This project is about inspiring a feel of change in people’s lives. This is Project W.
I was always interested in designing a watch. This device has got a sense of beauty, technology, luxury and precision all in one body. My aim was to get rid of all the distracting elements, that a traditional watch has and explore the form of the case to inspire a sense of discovery in people.
The bracelet of this watch is continuous with the case, which creates the feeling of a solid and finished object. The construction itself is milled from a solid piece of steel or copper, depending on the model, using a 6-axis milling machine.
The choice of the material goes back to the project statement. Gold was always associated with luxury, however, my aim was to explore the new shapes, materials and textures, which is why I have chosen copper and stainless steel.
The steel version has got a polished reflective dial with dark blue minute hand. The copper version is equipped with white dial with blue hand.
