Most of you know James May (aka Captain Slow) as one of the presenters of the much-beloved BBC series, Top Gear.

But he's not just one of the three stars of the most illegally downloaded shows of all time...he's also responsible for many other shows on the BBC like James May's Top Toys, James May On The Moon, two series devoted to beer and wine and more.

Last year, the BBC aired James May's Toy Stories, which explored James enlisting people to help him bring favorite toys of the past into the modern era, by using the toys in real life large scale explorations. In each episode, he also explores the history of each toy. Many of these episodes are of interest to you, the loyal GoMotorBids member, but all of them are great.

In episode one, James attempted to create a full-sized model Spitfire out of a giant Airfix kit. In episode four, James and hundreds of others laid down a Scalextric track at the site of Brooklands, which was the world's first purpose-built racetrack. And episode six showed James (with lots of help) attempting to link Barnstaple and Bideford, England with the world's longest model train set (in HO scale).

BBC America started showing the episodes a few weeks back, out of order of course. (What else is new with these guys, as they are always running seasons of Top Gear out of order, and they just started showing season five this week and calling them "The Lost Episodes"!) If you haven't seen it, check your cable guide as they re-run them often and they may be available on demand as well.

Or, there's always the wonder of YouTube. Check out the first ten minutes of the model train episode, "Hornby", below, and you'll be hooked!
