While at university, we were assigned the task of preparing an object, using a natural product and, taking advantage of its properties in an unconventional way.
We chose the kernels of cherries to pack a bag able to retain heat for a certain period of time varying from 5 to 6 hours approximately.
Using a vegetable linen cloth, they were created and the spaces between the seams, inserting in them the kernels. We prepared the bag through special bends, using the Japanese technique of origami. The idea of Hanami came thinking people who work and don’t have much time for the lunch break, or have no means to heat food.
Heating the bag in microwave, it keeps the temperature inside nearly constant for several hours.
We have proposed different forms and sizes bags, reclosable in various ways to get a more personal bag, opting for their textures in pastel tones with all ‘oriental art references on the one hand, while on the other we chose at and monochromatic colors.
