After Facebook and Apple, Google has taken an initiative to step up the user’s viewing experience. Recently, Google has introduced Accelerated Mobile pages, which aims at escalating the user’s experience by building light weight web pages. This will reduce the loading time; thereby allowing you to have an enhanced reading experience.

Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) is available for everyone to use. AMP restricts certain CSS, HTML, and Javascript codes; however, many new codes have been introduced providing greater functionality to users.

Here’re some of the requirements for Google’s AMP:

-          Styles are restricted to 50Kb size.
-          Asynchronous script’s is allowed.
-          Fonts are loaded with a CSS or link tag.
-          Javascript’s are not allowed; Only Google’s AMP is supported.
-          CSS should be inline.
-          Image size of external resources must be stated in HTML form.

Please note, you won’t be able to preview AMP pages on your desktop since these are restricted to mobile platform.
AMP’s for Wordpress

Using some plugins, you can simply enable this new technique on your wordpress website.
Here, we have listed some of the plugins which will enable you to integrate AMP (Accelerated Mobile Page) on your website.

-          AMP (plugin developed by Automattic)
-          Facebook Instant Articles and Google AMP page by PageFrog.
-          Accelerated Mobile Pages

Simply, copy and paste these names on search for plugins option in wordpress site. After that you need to install and activate that plugin and you’re done.

Recently, a new version of Yoast plugin has also introduced this concept.

While we were testing Accelerated Mobile Pages, we encountered some problems with the search engine console. Hopefully, the problem will be resolved soon by Google.

AMP has also been introduced on the Drupal and Joomla platforms providing an enhanced user’s experience.
Pros and Cons of AMP:

Pros
Ø  Open Source platform
Ø  Faster loading means improved SEO of your website.
Ø  Increased Customization opportunities
Ø  Since the platform is developed by Google, we assume that in future AMP HTML pages will be its own ranking factor.

Cons
Ø  For a beginner, this might be difficult to integrate to your website.
Ø  Adds complexity for developers.
Ø  By now, the concept is not available for Window phone users, since the browser doesn’t support IE11.
