The Western Wall Ring
A bronze ring designed to evoke the Western Wall in Jerusalem, Israel.
I was inspired by a trip I took to Israel to create a ring based on The Western Wall. Much can and has been said about the importance of the structure. Of significance to me is the weight of history the wall represents – both historically and personally.
I wanted to create something to remind me of the wall and my journey to see it.
Each stone in each course of the wall has a different shape and texture, at least on the side that is visible. I wanted to capture that recognizable texture. I wanted no part of what I created to look like any other part.
The ring in the photos are shown in a special polyurethane coated bronze. I could have made the ring in gold, but I wanted to first make it first in bronze because I felt the color best matched that of the wall. (The PU coated keeps it from turning your finger green!)
