I received a care package full of goodies from French amateur football league Le Ballon, including two wicked Le Ballon badges developed by Avery Dennison. 

So what better way to make use of them than create a one-off football shirt. 

Given the linear corporate identity of Le Ballon, the first thing that popped into my mind was the scene from The Shining where Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) rears his head through the door he's just axed. 

From there, the other details of the shirt take shape: 

The scene where Jack's incessantly typed out "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" and his son riding his Big Wheel through the Overlook Hotel. 

The lower left badge is a spoof on the UEFA Respect logo with the labyrinth/maze from the movie and Jack's son writing out "REDRUM" on the door. 

The badge on the right sleeve is a spoof on the French Ligue 1 badge, where the ball's pattern takes inspiration from the Overlook Hotel's carpet pattern. 

And a shoutout to another of Stanley Kubrick's movies, 2001 and the eye from HAL9000. 

The center front sponsor is Japanese company Medicom's line of figures called Kubrick. 

In the end, a one-off football shirt for my boys from Le Ballon has also become a tribute to a genius of the moving image. I salute you Stanley Kubrick.
