I was inspired by the work of the Sock Mob in London and the Unseen Tours that grew out of that. By training homeless people to give unique paid for guided city tours one gives them the earning potential to explore new avenues in their life and allows them to regain a new sense of confidence. The tours enable the public to hear about the direct experience of someone living on the street as well as learning about the history of an area. The tours remove the veil that separates those on the street from the people who may walk past everyday without giving them a second glance. By engaging in an interactive process the ability to understand the plight of the homeless through direct contact becomes possible.

I see great potential in these tours beyond London. My three posters below are designed for Brighton by using graffiti backdrops which are so associated with the urban landscape and is fast putting Brighton on the map internationally with its large scale murals. The designs are modern, colourful and upbeat - the very opposite of most awareness campaigns for the homeless. The emphasis is on positivity and interactivity. I am introducing the brand - StreetSeen and am presenting three people that may give the tours. The guides are presented in a cartoon style as if they are emerging from the graffiti, representing the urban landscape and becoming real people. The names emphasise even more that these are real people not just shapes on the street.
